Resources
Resources for LEGO bricks are numerous, below are some of my favorites with short descriptions on the value I find in these sites. The logo images are direct links to the resource.
News & Reviews
StoneWars - This is the best site for LEGO news and information! The site is based in Germany so you will need to translate it into your preferred language. Highlights include the EOL (End of Life) list and NEW set lists as well as the image heavy reviews and announcements.
Jang's LEGO Reviews - When I want to know about a set I am looking to purchase, I go to Jang's YouTube channel. He gives honest reviews on the value and playability of LEGO sets.
Beyond the Brick - This is the world's largest fan community for LEGO bricks, the focus is on LEGO MOC builders from around the world as seen in shows, expos, and personal collections. I get my daily does of MOCs from their Instagram feed and years ago I spent several hours watching their video tours of the LEGO House and the LEGO Archive. Highly recommended!
Photography
Four Bricks Tall - Excellent resource for information about photographing LEGO minifigures, includes photo gear, lighting, and phone photography.
Brick Central - This is a photography community dedicated to LEGO photography, and also run by the shooter behind Four Bricks Tall. The community encourages each other to stay creative.
Toy Photographers - This is a photography community dedicated to TOY photography but includes a large amount of LEGO photography and lots of information about shooting techniques for all things small.
Foolish Bricks - This is a unique site dedicated to using LEGO photography as a storytelling tool in a comic format. The images are very narrative with excellent lighting / atmosphere and the photographer has provided numerous tutorials on LEGO photography tips and tricks.
Databases
BrickSet - This website is a wealth of information about LEGO sets and Minifigures! Take note that when you first visit there are ads everywhere, but creating an account will get rid of the ads and make using this resource much easier. I use it to log all my sets and minifigures and to keep a wish list on sets I am looking for. The site has a companion app for my phone so my collection information goes where I go.
BrickEconomy - This website is great for collectors looking at data about set value, retirements, and related information. Like BrickSet, you can also add your collection but you also get data insights from BrickEcomony; however take the value information with a grain of salt as there is a lot of discussion on the accuracy of the monetary valuations.
MODs, MOCs, & Parts
Bricklink - This is the best place to find LEGO parts and new, used, and retired LEGO sets and minifigures. There are sellers from all over the world and the LEGO group owns Bricklink, so you can trust your purchases. Bricklink also has tools for designing your own LEGO builds in a 3D environment and the Designer Program where builders submit MOCs and the community votes on their favorite for limited production by the LEGO group.
LEGO Ideas - This website is focused on fan based MOCs. Fans submit their ideas and the community votes on the builds they like, once a build reaches 10K votes it goes to the LEGO team for final approval. Approved sets become official LEGO sets. There are also activities and challenges that offer great prizes and the opportunity to have your build become an official LEGO set.
Rebrickable - This website is focused on reusing those LEGO bricks by letting you know what else you can build with the parts from set 'XYZ'. There is also a marketplace where you can purchase MOC instructions from a variety of builders.
Tips & Bricks - This website is focuses on daily tips and tricks for building custom LEGO models. They focus on MOCs and sharing building techniques and even have a selection of free handbooks to get you started with basic building techniques.
New Elementary - This website is focuses on LEGO parts. They cover the newest parts in sets and in the Pick a Brick section on LEGO.com. They also give you a heads of on which parts are set to retire soon along with set reviews, news and announcements.
Brick Architect - This website is the best resource for information about storage options for all your LEGO parts. There are various articles on storage solutions and LEGO brick labels that you can download and use to label your parts bins.
